English Language Learning Foundation, Inc. hosted on Feb. 26, 2009 in NKU Student Union Ballroom, its First Annual Recognition Breakfast, including an International Silent Auction.

It was a total success, with hundreds of people who came to support Sister Margarita Brewer and her Foundation.

ELLF : Children's Day @ Cincinnati Zoo (April 28, 2007)

The English Language Learning Foundation, Inc. was proud to be hosting the fifth annual Children’s Day, “El Día de los Niños” Celebration at the Cincinnati Zoo on Saturday, April 28th. An estimated 600 children and parents, along with their families and distinguished guests such as Cincinnati’s Mayor Mark Mallory came to celebrate this event.

This year’s theme was "We Are All Neighbors." With the main activity, "Passport to the Neighborhood," each child got a “passport” to be stamped at the stations represented by ethnic groups in Cincinnati including the following: African American, Appalachian, Chinese, Ethiopian, Greek, Guatemalan, Mexican, Peruvian, and Senegalese.

The Cincinnati Zoo did a wonderful job as a host of this event, and their support was extremely appreciated by the organizers and the children.

There is no greater cause to champion than providing a well-rounded, culturally diverse education to every child in Cincinnati. Since April 2003, Children’s Day, “El Día de los Niños” has celebrated diversity in Cincinnati Public Schools. This year’s festivities will take place from April 27th through April the 30th and all schools in the Cincinnati Area are invited to participate.

The English Language Learning Foundation, Inc. is proud to be hosting the fifth annual Children’s Day, “El Día de los Niños” Celebration at the Cincinnati Zoo on Saturday, April 28th. While the festivities will span 4 days, we are expecting the highest number of participants during the event at the Cincinnati Zoo on Saturday. An estimated 600 children, along with their families and distinguished guests such as Cincinnati’s Mayor Mark Mallory are expected to participate on this day.

ELLF : Children's Day Activities in Cincinnati

Children’s Day, El Día de los Niños, is traditionally celebrated in Latin America and many Asian and European countries to honor and commemorate the essential role of children in the future of every nation. Initiated by the National Latino Children’s Institute in 1998, the U.S. Senate passed Resolution 278, declaring April 30th El Día de los Niños: Celebrating Young Americans. At present it is celebrated in many cities in over 30 U.S. states.

The purpose of Children’s Day is to Uplift Children. It is a day for parents, families, communities, and public officials to value and acclaim all children. It is a day for children when children and youth take the central stage and declare it their day,

El Día de los Niños: Celebrating Young Americans was celebrated for the first time in Cincinnati and in Cincinnati Public Schools on April 30, 2003. This year we want all schools in the Cincinnati area to participate in the following celebrations:

Friday, April 27th at all participating Cincinnati schools - Information and registration package with suggested activities for the celebration will be sent to all schools by email per request.

Saturday, April 28th - The ELL Foundation, Inc. is hosting the Children’s Day, El Día de los Niños event, which will include all Cincinnati area schools, at the Cincinnati Zoo. Mayor Mallory will join us and read the Proclamation. More information will be provided.

Sunday, April 29th - There also will be a celebration at the Main Branch of the Cincinnati Public Library downtown. The winning posters made by the students will be on display at the Main Library.

Monday, April 30th - The celebration will follow at the Children’s Hospital & Medical Center.

All children and their parents are invited to participate in these celebrations.
